West Valley Township – Lilly Ann (Lundgren) Hanson, age 80, of West Valley Township, went to her Heavenly Home on Sunday, December 18, 2022 at the Lakeview Methodist Care Center in Fairmont.
Lilly was born April 11, 1942 in Warroad, to Hermes and Ann (Helgeson) Lundgren as the fourth of four children. Lilly graduated from Warroad High School and later began working in Thief River Falls as a nurse’s aide and later as a secretary in an accountant’s office.
On December 21, 1963 Lilly married the love of her life, Bennie Hanson, in Thief River Falls. Together they renovated a house Bennie had purchased along with some farmland outside of Newfolden, and made this their home, where they raised one son and six daughters. Bennie and Lilly attended the Newfolden Evangelical Free Church.
In recent years, Lilly lived with her eldest daughter and son-in-law near Welcome. During this time, she attended the Bethel Evangelical Free Church in Fairmont.
Lilly is survived by one son, Brent (Andrea) Hanson of Newfolden; six daughters, Deb (Tim) Meyer of Welcome, Tami (Dale) Schneider of Hinckley, Karla (Mike) Palkie of Brainerd, Kari (Kirby) Dembiczak of Halma, Brenda (Ryan) Williams of Lake Crystal, and Lynne Mattern of East Grand Forks; thirty grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding Lilly in death are her husband, Bennie; her parents, Hermes and Ann; and three brothers, Ardell, Verdie, and infant.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, 2022 at the Newfolden Evangelical Free Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will follow at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Newfolden. In place of flowers, the family requests memorials. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
