Thief River Falls – Myron Anderson, 82, of Thief River Falls passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 at his residence in Thief
River Falls, with his loving wife and daughter Denise by his side.
Myron Theodore Anderson was born November 12, 1940 in Greenbush, the son of Theodore Clarence and Gladys Elizabeth (Hendrickson) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith with sponsors Henry and Frieda Paulson. His education started in a country school near Stephen and he continued his education in Newfolden.
Myron met the love of his life Ila Mae Skadsem when his parents moved to Newfolden. They were married on July 14, 1962 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Newfolden and made their home in Warren, where their first child, Denise was born in 1964. In 1965 the family moved to Wyoming and back to Hallock in 1966. In 1968 they settled in Thief River Falls where they continued to reside, adding sons Darren and Shayne (1969) and Jeremy (1971).
While in Wyoming, Myron worked on a bridge crew. Jobs in and around Thief River Falls which included The Hill Elevator, Firestone, Anderson Power & Equipment, Ose Trucking, and this fall for Christianson Farms.
Younger years were spent motorcycling, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing and camping. Later years were spent traveling, fishing and watching his children and grandchildren participate in activities. Myron loved eating popcorn, watching Western movies and dancing. He enjoyed driving his ATV with his dog Missy at his side at The North Nine near Warroad.
Myron was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for 31 years and Abundant Life Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls for the past 25 years.
Survivors include his loving wife of 60 years, Ila of Thief River Falls; children, Denise (Wayne) Highness of Virginia, Shayne (Sara Nelson) Anderson of Arizona and Jeremy (Tami) Anderson of Florida; grandchildren, Alisa (Jason) Akey, Cedric (fiancé Molly Savage) Highness, Reid (Emily) Anderson, Austyn (Brandon Zeigler) Anderson, Tye (Paige Davis) Anderson, Bailey (Erin) Anderson, Madyson (Dylan Defreece) Anderson, Gracie Anderson, PhoebeAnn Anderson; great-grandchildren, Evalyn, Asher, Piper and Waylen; sister, Vivian (Dick) Kezar; brother, Merlin (Sharon) Anderson; sisters and brothers-in-law, Marie Skadsem, Beverly Boe, Archie (Anita) Skadsem, Mike (Vicki) Skadsem, Michelle (Tim Stengrim) Rose; proud Godfather of six Godchildren; devoted family friend, Rochelle Anderson; and many other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his son, Darren; parents; and brother, Mark in Vietnam.
Visitation was held from 5–7 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service on Tuesday, January 10, 2023 at Johnson Funeral service in Thief River Falls.
The service to celebrate Myron’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 11, 2023 at Abundant Life Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Rev. LeRoy Flickinger officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Newfolden.
