Thief River Falls – Shawn Johnson, 46, of rural Thief River Falls, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 10, 2023 at his residence.
Shawn Allan Johnson was born on May 19, 1976 in Karlstad, son of Douglas LeRoy and Judy Veradell (Gudvangen) Johnson. He was baptized at First Lutheran Church in Gatzke, and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. He graduated in 1995 from Lincoln High School in Thief River Falls.
After high school, Shawn worked at Arctic Cat in Thief River Falls for 27 years. For many years, he owned and operated Precision Crankshafts. He was currently employed at Digi-Key as a Maintenance Technician. Shawn loved his job and the guys he worked with at Digi-Key.
On June 2, 2018 Shawn was united in marriage to Jessica Wilson at their home along the river in rural Thief River Falls.
Shawn enjoyed racing vintage snowmobiles, hunting, fishing and shooting. He loved riding ATVs, traveling and anything to do with the outdoors. Shawn liked tinkering in his shop and was able to fix anything.
He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone and had an amazing sense of humor. Shawn could always put a smile on people’s faces and was always up for a good time. He always had a dog at his side and his hunting dogs Stacy and Foxy held a special place in his heart.
Shawn is survived by the love of his life, Jessica Wilson; his mother, Judy (Walter) Kolodziej of Roosevelt; siblings, Garrett (Anita) Johnson, St. Hilaire, Julie (Rory) Hodgson, Roosevelt, and Joanie (Jesse) Johnson, Roseau; nieces and nephews, Tracy, Jason, Katie and James T; uncle, Ronnie (Linda) Johnson of Thief River Falls; along with cousins and many friends.
Shawn is preceded in death by his father, Douglas; grandparents, Ahlert and Dorothy Johnson, John and Veradell Gudvangen; and good friend, Sandy Wilson.
Visitation will be held Friday February 17, 2023 at 5 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire, and also one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Calvary Lutheran Church in St. Hilaire, with Reverend Frank Ehling officiating.
