Thief River Falls – Curtis Steven Jacobson was born on May 19, 1952 to Carl and Mabel (Gullingsrud) Jacobson in Ada, Minnesota. He graduated from Gary High School with class of 1970.
After high school, Curtis entered the United States Navy where he proudly served in Vietnam.
While in the service, Curtis married the love of his life, Sandra Kaye Larson. They were united in marriage on December 19, 1971, and to this union they were blessed with 3 children, Jennifer, Adam and Jacob.
After the service, Curtis and his family made their home in Detroit Lakes, where he attended trade school and eventually founded Jacobson Concrete & Sales. He most recently retired after 45 years of business. Curtis and Sandra moved to Thief River Falls in 1983 and founded and built the Community Church International where he has continued to pastor for the last 40 years. He earned a PHD in Theology from the Minnesota Graduate School of Theology. He was passionate about his faith and founded Lion and Lamb Bible College and was the President of United Team International.
Curtis is survived by his loving wife, Sandra of 52 years; his children, Jennifer (Chad) Manning and Jacob Jacobson of Thief River Falls; grandsons, Storm Manning, Jack Manning, Brody Manning, Beau Manning, Roman Jacobson, Porter Jacobson, Jayden Jacobson, Jovani Leon; granddaughter, Jewel Jacobson; great-granddaughter Alora Leon; brothers and sisters, Rick (Gay) Jacobson of Pequot Lakes, Nita (John) Sundet of Richmond, James (Mary) Jacobson of Thief River Falls; brothers-in-law, Paul (Linda) Larson of Independence, MO, Larry (Vicky) Larson of Mogadore, OH, Robert (Lisa) Larson of Mahnomen; sisters-in-law, Barbara Bruno of Thief River Falls, Linda Larson of Thief River Falls; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marion Larson; son, Adam Jacobson; in-laws, Richard and Donna Larson; and brother-in-law, Leland Larson.
Curtis passed away with his loving family at his side on Saturday, October 7, 2023 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND after a long battle with cancer. God bless his precious memory.
A celebration of life will be held at the Community Church International on Highway 1 East in Thief River Falls on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at 1 p.m.
