– Rosemary “Rosie” DeMeyere, 86, formerly of Thief River Falls, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, at the Valley Senior Living On Columbia, Grand Forks, ND.
On February 9, 1937, Rosie was born to Daniel and Cecelia (Kasprowicz) Borowicz at the Warren Hospital, Warren. She was baptized and later confirmed at Assumption Catholic Church, Florian. Rosie attended country school in Florian until the 8th grade. Rosie worked on the Tamarac River Farm east of Florian with her seven siblings. She moved to Thief River Falls and worked several jobs, including the hospital, clinic, and the local laundry service.
After her marriage to Ray DeMeyere at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Thief River Falls, she was the caregiver to Ray’s mother for many years. Ray and Rosie loved to travel and went on many trips to Nashville, Branson, Rollag, and GooseFest with their special friends Ray and Jeannie Nelson. Tuesday evening casino nights were enjoyed as well. Rosie loved to dance to country western music and she never missed a St. Bernard’s fish fry.
Rosie’s peanut butter and date cookies were a sought-after treasure. Rose loved her time with the ladies at the card club and coffee club. She especially loved family reunions and spoiling her nieces and nephews. They all loved their “Auntie Rosie”.
Rosemary is survived by her siblings, special friend Jeannie Nelson, brothers-in-law Stanley and wife Lois, Art and wife Bonnie, sisters-in-law Margie and husband Larry, Rosalind and husband Clyde, Clarice, Caroline, Edna, and Susan, many nieces and nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews, along with Ray’s extended family.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Ray; brothers Richard and wife Vonnie, Robert and wife Adeline; sisters-in-law Ida, Freda, Violet, and Vernice; and brothers-in-law Ted, Art, Russell, and Robert.
A very special thank you to the staff at Valley Senior Living on Columbia for the compassion and love you showed for Rosie. The entire family is extremely grateful for the tender care you gave her. You are all a gift from God.
