Chisago City – David Dyrdal, age 86, of Chisago City, passed away on December 5, 2023.
He was born in Thief River Falls, on June 28, 1937 to parents Ingebrit and Edith (Benson) Dyrdal. He married Barbara J. Frasl on January 12, 1957 in St. Paul, and worked as a journeyman lather. Prior to retirement he owned and operated Dave’s Floor Sanding and Refinishing company in Chisago City for 25 years.
Dave dedicated his life to caring for his family as a devoted husband, father and grandfather. In his earlier years he served in the Minnesota National Guard and worked with his brother in their family farming business, Dyr-Valley Enterprise, in Thief River Falls.
Dave enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, rebuilding tractors, snowmobiling, time on his riverboat and pontoon, gardening and caring for his lawn. He was known for his sense of humor and outgoing personality. Dave cherished his family and friends near and far and enjoyed time spent together.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Barbara J. Dyrdal (Frasl); parents, Ingebrit and Edith Dyrdal; parents-in-law, Earling and Elizabeth Frasl; son, David J. Dyrdal; daughter, Doreen P. (James) Jacobson; brother and sister-in-law, Donovan and Anna Dyrdal; sister and brother-in-law, Louann (Dyrdal) and Daryl Lewis.
Dave is survived by his daughter, Jaquelyn (Jeff Hofmeister) Menier; son, Eric (Gerilyn Jo) Dyrdal; granddaughters, Brooke and Madison Menier; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bob and Diane Westphal; nephews, Greg (Dawn) Dyrdal, John Dyrdal, Todd (Darsey) Lewis, Ron (Lisa) Westphal; nieces, Kathryn Renwick, Sueann (Chuck) Patraw, Mary Rhor; and many great-nephews, great-nieces; and close friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 2–7 p.m. on Friday, December 15, 2023 at the Chisago Lakes Sportsman Club in Chisago City.
