Thief River Falls – Carol Marie Clark passed away at Altru Hospital on March 30, 2025, in Grand Forks, ND with her loving family by her side.
Carol Marie Clark was born November 2, 1957, in Thief River Falls, the daughter of Clarence and Martha (Lee) Walhaug and was raised near Oklee. She graduated from Oklee High School in 1975.
On March 2, 1974, she was united in marriage to Richard Clark at Salem Lutheran Church near Oklee. Together they built a life centered around family and community, raising two children, Jason and Kelly.
Carol worked at Arctic Cat and Northwestern Mutual before beginning a long and dedicated 30+ years
with UPS where she made many lifelong friends. She and Richard made their home south of Thief River Falls after a brief time in the Viking area.
A woman of many interests, Carol enjoyed visiting with loved ones, spending time at Upper Red Lake, camping and fishing, gardening, canning, cooking, baking, and hosting holiday gatherings. Her well-stocked pantry was a source of pride. She cherished trips with her sisters and found great joy in
attending the activities of her four grandsons.
Deeply involved in her community, Carol was an active member of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. She taught Sunday school and served on numerous boards, including during the planning of the new church building. She also gave her time as a 4-H leader and Girl Scout leader and participated in a bowling league and trap shooting.
Carol is survived by her husband of 51 years, Richard; children, Jason (Jacquie) Clark of Warren, and Kelly Mitchell (Joe LaFountain) of Rock Lake, ND; grandchildren, Elliott, Kade, Rielly, and Case; aunt, Lois Peterson of Thief River Falls; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Eddie, Sharon (Warren), Shirley (Gary), and Wayne; and great-nephew, Gannon Hejlik; along with other extended family members.
May her memory bring comfort to all who knew her.
The funeral service for Carol will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls, with Reverend Alex Amiot officiating.
Burial will be held at the Finnish Cemetery near Plummer.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 3, 2025, starting at 5 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will also be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
