Newfolden – Dennis Ernest Klopp, 79, of Newfolden, passed away on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND, surrounded by loved ones.
Born on July 31, 1945, in Warren, he lived a life devoted to his family, his faith, and his passion for farming.
Dennis was baptized and confirmed at Alma Lutheran Church and was a proud graduate of Argyle High School, Moorhead State College, and Thief River Falls Vocational/Technical School. Dennis served proudly with the United States Army National Guard from 1966–1972.
On April 19, 1969, Dennis was united in marriage to Debra Jean Anderson at Karlstad Baptist Church. To this union five children were born, Philip, Steven, Sara, Rachel and Renae. The couple made their home on a farm near Dennis’ parents. In 1972 they purchased a farm near Karlstad where they raised their family and attended the Karlstad Baptist Church. In 1980 they began milking cows there and they resided there until 2003 when they moved across town to a farm north of Karlstad. They were married 50 loving, wonderful years. Debbie passed away on December 6, 2019.
Dennis dedicated much of his life to hard work, contributing his expertise to Arctic Enterprises, Motor Coach Industries, CHS Lake Bronson, and Newfolden Fertilizer Plant. He also owned and operated a dairy farm, where he nurtured his love for agriculture.
On October 25, 2020, Dennis was united in marriage to Sharon Kay (Vigness) Peterson at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls. They met at Galilee Bible Camp as teenagers. They spent wonderful, joyful times together as she welcomed he and his family into her heart. God blessed them with 4 years and 7 months together, sharing their love for each other, family and especially their Spiritual Walk, continuously growing in their faith and love.
A man of many talents, Dennis found joy in visiting, farming, gardening, woodworking, hunting, fishing and he loved auction and garage sales. His voice uplifted others as he sang gospel music, and his presence was always a source of comfort and wisdom. Dennis was an active member of the Karlstad Baptist Church and his church’s Deacon Board, Heritage Christian School, New Life Bible Camp, Red River Valley Dairy Association, and he was a Land O’Lakes Delegate, and a board member of Cenex.
Dennis is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon Peterson-Klopp; and his cherished children, Philip (Amy) Klopp, Steven (Karen) Klopp, Sara (Todd) Dravland, Rachel (Mark) Johnson, and Renae (Jon) Sigerud. He was a proud grandfather to many, including Morgan (Caleb) Swedeen, Matthew Klopp, Bryar (Kathryn) Klopp, Bret (Haley) Klopp, Maximus Klopp, Rylie (fiancé Ethan) Klopp, Wyatt Klopp, Samantha (Alex) Berry, Cody (Lexi) Dravland, Tanner (Emily) Dufault, Trent (fiancée Stef) Dufault, Trevor (fiancée Jaden) Dufault, Talya Dufault, Collin (Emmie) Johnson, Tayler Forsberg, Grace Forsberg, Faith Forsberg, Elise Johnson, Caden (Hope) Sigerud, Katie Sigerud, Cody Sigerud; 14 great-grandchildren, Lane, Shiloh, Bethany, Ivan, Eli, Wade, Jayden, Joanna, William, Daniel, Camden, Grayson, Sawyer, Ophelia, Daxton, Adalyn, Bronwyn, Taysom, Bennett; sisters, Jean (Leonard) Matthews, Karen (Ken) Mumm, and Patti (Rick) Klopp. Dennis was also lovingly embraced by Sharon’s children, Todd (Michelle) Peterson and Troy (April) Peterson; along with her grandchildren, Brittany (Dave) Gulden, Chris Peterson, Ashley Peterson, Joshua (Sidney) Peterson, Jeremy (Svea) Peterson; and great-grandchildren, Millie, Charleigh, Braxton; and many other relatives and friends.
Dennis is preceded in death by his first wife, Debbie; his parents, Ernest and Agnes Klopp; grandson, Ty Sigerud; and his beloved sisters, JoAnn Weekley, Darlene (John) Roseland, and Bonnye (Richard) Renz; and father-in-law, Curtis Anderson.
His legacy of kindness, faith, and dedication to his family and community will be remembered by all who knew him.
Visitation will be held from 5–7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., on Friday, June 13, 2025, at the Karlstad Baptist Church in Karlstad.
Visitation will begin at 9 a.m., with the funeral service for Dennis to be held at 10 a.m., on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Karlstad Baptist Church in Karlstad, with Pastor John Fetterhoff officiating. A time of lunch and fellowship will follow the service at the church.
The burial will be held at Bethania Cemetery Marsh Grove Twp, Marshall Co, Newfolden.
