Thief River Falls – Gregory Stigen, of Thief River Falls passed away on Monday, May 28, 2018 at his home in Thief River Falls at the age of 61.
A Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls. Burial followed at Greenwood Cemetery, Thief River Falls.
Gregory Allan Stigen was born August 15, 1956 at Thief River Falls the son of Ernest R. and Cora S. (Hasby) Stigen. He was confirmed at the Evangelical Covenant Church. Greg attended Knox Elementary School, Franklin Middle School, and Lincoln Senior High School from which he graduated from a special education program. He then attended Northland Technical School in a welding program in Thief River Falls, MN.
Gregory worked at Hartz Grocery Store while in high school as a stock and carry out boy. He also worked for 4 years at a small engine shop, worked at Arctic Cat in maintenance and Custom Products, where he started on April 25, 2006 and ended in 2015.
Gregory’s interests lie in working with small engines, chainsaws, lawn mowers, playing Bingo and walking all over town visiting with friends and making new ones. Greg was a member of the Eagles, Thief River Falls.
Gregory is survived by a brother: Jeff Lannoye (LaVon); sisters: Kathy Lannoye Chapin, Laurie Stigen (Len Twete), Gwen (special friend Kevin Beaulieu) Stigen and Cherie Stigen (Kurt Leader); sister-in-law, Rita Stigen (Bob Snell); along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and special friends Jeff Larson, Scott McLean, Larry Myhrer, and Gerald Kiesow.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Cora; his grandparents, Theodore and Emily (Housker) Stigen and Henry and Martha (Mikkelson) Hasby; brothers, Nick Lannoye, Loren Stigen and Clifton Stigen; sister, Susan Stigen Axtel; nephew, Christopher M. Fayette and several aunts, uncles, and Cousins.
