Inga Linder, 104, of Plummer, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Sanford Hospital in Thief River Falls with her loving family at her side.
The funeral service was held on Saturday, September 14, 2019 at Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee. Burial was at Salem Lutheran Cemetery, Oklee.
Inga Adina Johnson was born October 21, 1914 in Garnes Township, rural Oklee, the daughter of Charley and Mary (Anderson) Johnson. She was baptized at Ebenezer Lutheran Church, Mayfield Township, and confirmed at Ebenezer Lutheran Church on July 29, 1929. She attended 33J School, grades 1 through 8 and Oklee High School, grades 9-12. She also attended Bemidji State Teacher College in Bemidji. She taught country school for seven years.
On November 25, 1939, Inga was united in marriage to Oscar Linder in Oklee. The couple lived on a farm east of Plummer in Garnes Township. She was a house wife until 1960 and then returned to teaching first grade in Plummer. The couple moved to Plummer in the fall of 1971. In 1979-1980, Inga was awarded the title of “Teacher of the Year”. She continued to teach until she retired in 1981.
Inga was a member of Salem Lutheran Church, rural Oklee, WELCA, Plummer Education Association, Minnesota Education Association, National Education Association and Plummer Senior Citizens. She enjoyed flowers, gardening, knitting, crocheting, reading, cooking and baking. Inga was even caught pulling weeds in her garden last week. Most of all she loved spending time with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Inga is survived by two children: Orrin (Phyllis) Linder of Plummer and Jane (John Capp) Kolstoe of Thief River Falls; grandchildren: Theodore (Jenny) Linder, Marcia (Scott) Peterson, Jennifer (Mark) Davis, Ann (Ryan) Ulrich, Eric (Nancy) Kolstoe, Matt (Lisa) Kolstoe, Leif (Jill) Kolstoe and Sonia Kolstoe; great-grandchildren: Alyssa (Marc) Walter, Hailey Peterson, Luke Peterson, Josie Davis, Jake Davis, Lincoln Davis, Sophia Linder, Maggie Ulrich, Gus Ulrich, Peyton Kolstoe, Brooke Kolstoe, Jayda Kolstoe, Hannah Kolstoe, Emily Kolstoe and Ava Kolstoe; great great-grandchildren, Isla Walter and Levi Walter; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Inga is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar, in 1973; her parents; son-in-law John Kolstoe; brothers: Albert, Melvin, Art, Clarence, Leonard, Otto Johnson and Johnny Anderson; sisters: Josephine Boyd, Selma Nelson, Gladys Magnell and Amanda Johnson; and all of the Linder family whom Inga dearly loved.
